We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Support Worker to join a well‑established children's residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, motivated, and resilient individual to take on a senior role within a supportive and progressive environment. You will play a key part in leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring that each young person receives high‑quality, consistent, and person‑centred care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day care and emotional support to children and young people with EBD in line with their individual care plans.
* Act as a positive role model and build trusting, therapeutic relationships with young people.
* Lead shifts effectively, ensuring smooth communication and high standards of care across the team.
* Support and mentor junior staff, promoting good practice and professional development.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of care and behaviour management plans.
* Encourage young people to develop independence, social skills, and confidence through positive engagement and structured routines.
* Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records and reports in line with Ofsted and safeguarding requirements.
* Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to ensure continued professional growth.
* Support young people in accessing education, health services, and leisure activities.
* Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour, using de‑escalation and behaviour management techniques.
* Ensure safeguarding and child protection principles are followed at all times.
Requirements
Essential
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce (or equivalent qualification).
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a residential childcare setting, specifically with young people presenting with EBD.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management strategies.
* Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team effectively.
* Excellent communication, empathy, and organisational skills.
* Flexibility to work a rota including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 4/5 or willingness to work towards it.
* Experience with PMVA or other de‑escalation training.
* First Aid and Medication Administration training.
