Malachi is an innovative specialist therapeutic family support organisation founded in 1991. We work across the Midlands and Staffordshire providing support in over 300 schools and community settings to parent/carers, young people and professionals through a range of counselling based therapeutic interventions to create lasting change.
About the role
As a Family Support Worker with Malachi, you will be enabling families to achieve and maintain outcomes that best supports them. No two days will be the same, as you will be working within different community settings or the homes of those we support within the West Midlands area. Meeting with families to provide a package of support interventions to meet their targeted needs. You will be proactively engaging and supporting families to strengthen and improve their outcomes, develop their resilience and reduce dependency on external specialist services. You will also be working directly with parents to uncover underlying issues, enabling them to gain and maintain independence and control over all aspects of their lives.
About You
As a Malachi Family Support Worker you will need to be an energetic communicator with excellent engagement and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with young people, parent/carers and professionals. You will be committed to enhancing the lives of children, young people and their families. You will also need to be emotionally resilient and be able to maintain a professional relationship with those that we support.

What we are looking for
Level 3 in Family Support Work or equivalent qualification is desirable
Ability to engage with parents/care giver on a one to one basis
An awareness of Safeguarding and Child protection Issues
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
An understanding and knowledge of child attachment
Previous demonstrable experience of working directly with families on both a one-to-one and group basis
Experience in completing an assessment tool, for example, Outcome Stars and Early Help Assessments is desirable but not essential
The role requires extensive travel to sites across areas of East Staffordshire, Tamworth, Lichfield and Cannock As such driving is an essential part of the role. It is essential that candidates have use of their own vehicle which has suitable business insurance and a full driving licence.
The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, working 7.5 hours between 8am-6pm to suit the needs of our clients.
