This is a strategic leadership role, offering the opportunity to lead the development and implementation of our digital and automation strategy, enabling cutting-edge solutions that shape the future of biologics.
The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team, drive technical excellence, and deliver complex projects involving Data, Digital & Automation. Your work will directly support the implementation of the biologics technology team strategy and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutics.

The Role
Key tasks in the Manager – Digital and Automation role will include (but are not limited to the below). Please download the job description for full details available on the CPI careers page:
1. To provide leadership to the integration of technologies, applications, processes and equipment into CPI Digital & Automation Assets and capabilities
2. Have ownership of Digital and Automation strategy implementation to define and resource its implementation plan, coordinating with other Technology Teams and central areas of expertise.
3. Functionally lead, manage, support and actively participate in the work required to deliver project goals on collaborative research & development, commercial and internal projects.
4. To support or develop plans for the training of the technical, operation and engineer teams to achieve effective use of Digital and Automation Assets and related systems and expand its capabilities over time in keeping with the business needs and strategy.
5. To undertake all management activities to ensure the smooth running of the group.
6. Lead the integration of control software solutions and automation technologies to support bioprocessing operations, including for continuous processing
The person we are seeking
It is essential that the successful candidate is educated to Degree Level (or equivalent) in a relevant Science, Engineering or Data Science discipline with significant experience and;
7. Has expertise in sample, process and data analysis in a CPI pursued industry vertical development setting
8. Possesses knowledge of data acquisition, data analysis, statistics and data modelling relevant to scientific research
9. Has experience of software tools covering areas of simulation for process control, modelling, automation and scheduling
10. Has significant, technical expertise in the design of and development of analytical technologies, advanced control, automation and data collection projects including data acquisition, equipment integration
It would be advantageous if the successful candidate was also educated to PhD level (or equivalent) in a relevant Science, Engineering or Data Science discipline and had a working knowledge of;
11. Simulation tools including process control and modelling software, such as Labview or Matlab
12. Advanced process control software e.g. Pharma MV and integration of data models for process control
13. Industrial control software such as PCS7 and development of control strategies
Alongside:
14. Knowledge and skills in programming and scripting languages, such as Python, C or Javascript
15. Experience of working in regulated environments working to standards such as ISO and GMP as applicable to the industry vertical
16. Expertise of the functional management and development of collaborative interdisciplinary teams
