Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking a Clerk of Works.
Join the team working on the Essex Highways Integrated Services contract in collaboration with Essex County Council. This role plays a vital part in overseeing the construction of new highways and improvements to the existing network, ensuring that all works carried out by developers meet the standards required for adoption as public highway and are maintainable at public expense.
We're looking for someone with a keen eye for detail to monitor and assess construction quality, ensuring compliance with planning obligations and County Council policies. Your work will help safeguard the long-term durability of Essex’s road infrastructure.
The Role
* Undertake site-based quality inspections related to new road construction and alterations to the existing highway to validate compliance with approved drawings/specifications, best practices, and programme requirements. Responsible for ensuring all materials used meet our testing standards.
* Prepare and assist in the management and monitoring of work programmes or services.
* Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the general public on all highway-related matters, as required.
* Produce weekly detailed reports, identifying remedial actions and non-compliance with drawings as works proceed.
* Check all Traffic Management layouts, providing expert advice on construction methods to minimise impact on the network in liaison with the NRSWA Team.
About You
* Proven experience in inspection and/or supervision of the construction of a wide range of highway schemes.
* HNC or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience in highways.
* Knowledge of a range of construction materials and methods related to highway works, gained through relevant industry experience.
* Appropriate knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as it pertains to highway works, with experience in applying control processes and measures to ensure compliance.
* Knowledge of traffic management systems and legislation.
