Job Description: Visitor Assistant at Bury Art Museum
Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre offers a vibrant environment to enjoy art and explore the rich history of Bury and the surrounding area. Showcasing both international and local art, it is a key cultural attraction in the town's culture quarter and participates in various exciting cultural projects.
We are seeking two creative and enthusiastic individuals to join our Visitor Services team. The successful candidates will be passionate about arts and heritage, committed to delivering high-quality customer care, and enhancing the visitor experience.
As part of an innovative team of Visitor Assistants, your responsibilities will include engaging with visitors, providing access to collections and exhibitions, ensuring security, serving in the gallery shop, delivering talks, workshops, and public events, promoting the service, and assisting with exhibition installations.
The post holders will be members of the Arts & Museums Team, reporting to the Front of House Supervisor, based at Bury Art Museum, Moss Street, Bury.
1. Candidates should enjoy working with people, possess good communication skills, and have experience working with diverse individuals and organizations.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a small team are essential.
3. Experience in customer-facing roles is preferred.
4. Experience in delivering talks and workshops, including to schools, is advantageous.
5. Candidates must be computer literate, with skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database maintenance, and email communication.
Post 1: 31 hours per week with the following schedule: Monday 08:30-12:30, Tuesday 10:00-17:00, Wednesday 10:00-17:00, Friday 09:00-17:00, Saturday 09:30-16:30.
Post 2: 28.5 hours per week with the following schedule: Tuesday 10:00-17:00, Wednesday 10:00-17:00, Friday 09:00-12:00, Saturday 10:00-16:30. Additional hours may be required based on service needs.
