Job overview

Part time - 30 hours per week (4 working days to be decided, some cross-site working)

Are you an established health care staff member looking for a new experience and development opportunity?

Or are you working in administration but wish to utilise your existing skills and develop new skills in research delivery?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research Department for a Band 3 Clinical Trials Assistant. In this vital role, you will support research nurses, allied health professionals (AHPs), and practitioners in the delivery of both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and research studies.

You will become an integral part of a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team, working alongside experienced medical, nursing, administrative, and support staff. Together, you’ll contribute to a diverse and expanding portfolio of studies across a range of clinical specialties.

If you're organised, enthusiastic, and passionate about advancing clinical research, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role is to provide data management, administrative and some clinical support for clinical trial activities according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and trust policies in the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust R & D department. The post holder will provide support to the clinical team in trial activities including collecting trial data, completing data collection forms, assisting in the set-up of new trials and ongoing management of existing trials and assisting in workload management in both an administrative and clinical capacity. The department is involved in a wide portfolio of clinical trials and the post-holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver the trials to a high standard.

Working for our organisation

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) provides hospital services to around 570,000 people living in Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and specialist services to patients from all over the country. We deliver a full range of district hospital services in a variety of locations and therefore, you may be required to work at different sites at times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, approachable, and genuinely interested in clinical research. You should be comfortable working under pressure, enjoy being part of a team, be able to manage your time well and work independently when needed. A practical, common-sense approach is essential, along with the ability to stay calm and flexible in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you’ll provide a mix of mainly administrative but some clinical support to our Research team, helping to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of clinical trials in a healthcare setting.

Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached.

All shortlisted candidates are expected to attend for an informal visit as part of the interview process, which should be arranged in advance.
