Role and Responsibilities
As an Asphalt Surfacing Contracts Manager, you will be entrusted with full responsibility for multiple surfacing schemes from inception through to completion. You will be the key link between clients, site teams, and senior leadership, ensuring smooth delivery across all stages.
* Managing multiple asphalt surfacing contracts simultaneously
* Overseeing project planning, programming, and resource allocation
* Ensuring all works comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
* Leading, mentoring, and supporting site supervisors and operational teams
* Monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and maximising profitability
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Preparing detailed progress reports and attending client meetings
* Resolving operational challenges efficiently and professionally
Must Have Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or senior project management role within asphalt surfacing or civil engineering
* Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable cost control experience
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
* In-depth knowledge of surfacing techniques, materials, and industry standards
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, NVQ Level 6/7 or equivalent (preferred)
