Senior Bioinformatician
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
We are looking for a full-time Senior Bioinformatician to join the dynamic genomics team within the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service (WGLS) based in Salisbury.
Location
The role will be based at the WGLS Salisbury site within Salisbury District Hospital (SDH). Future plans to bring the service together in a single facility in the Southampton area once an appropriate site is secured.
Responsibilities
The post-holder will take a leading role in the provision, maintenance, and development of bioinformatic systems within the laboratory. The role also includes substantial involvement in service redesign, innovation, and training. You will work closely with fellow bioinformaticians, clinical scientists, and technical staff to maximise the laboratory’s performance locally and contribute to its key role within the Central & South Genomics Laboratory Hub.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline.
* Clinical bioinformatician registered with the HCPC or working towards registration.
* Significant experience in next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, quality management, web development, and database management.
