Job Summary
The Trust is looking to recruit a part-time Consultant in Adult Neurology.
Helena Ward is a designated 17-bedded Neurology Unit, providing inpatient acute care and rehabilitation. Facilities include separate areas for day case lumbar punctures, intravenous infusions, outpatient suites, neurophysiology, and administrative offices.
The ward cares for patients with acute neurological diseases and sub-acute rehabilitation, transferred from the regional Neurosciences Centre. On-site facilities include MRI, CT scanning, EEG, NCS, and carotid dopplers.
The role involves commitment to elective outpatient activity at the RUH and Wiltshire community hospitals.
You will join a dedicated team of consultants, alongside three non-Consultant grade medical staff: an IMT, an StR, and an F1. The department also includes a Medical Nurse Practitioner and specialist nurses supporting Parkinson's Disease, MS, MND, and Epilepsy.
Main Duties
The postholder will participate in audit, clinical governance, and directorate meetings, and undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Lead Clinician in Neurology.
Teaching medical students from Bristol University and the Bath Academy is part of the role, with all Neurology Consultants encouraged to contribute to formal and clinical teaching sessions.
