About the role
You will lead the Repairs and Compliance service within Facilities Management, managing around 40 staff as part of a wider function of around 200 employees. The service delivers approximately 7,500 compliance activities and 8,000 repairs each year, helping to ensure council buildings are safe, well maintained and responsive to customer needs.
You will provide visible, confident leadership across service delivery, performance, contracts, budgets, people management and continuous improvement. Working with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, you will strengthen governance, manage risk and use data and technology to improve productivity, value for money and customer outcomes.
About you
We are looking for a credible senior leader with experience of managing complex operational services and multidisciplinary teams. You will bring strong knowledge of repairs, maintenance, compliance, health and safety, contract management and risk, alongside the ability to lead change, build effective relationships and deliver high standards in a busy operational environment.
A relevant trade or craft qualification to at least NVQ Level 3, and educated to degree level or equivalent experience, is essential.
Key skills required
1. Strong operational leadership across repairs, maintenance, compliance or facilities management services.
2. Ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams in a busy, customer-focused environment.
3. Sound knowledge of health and safety, statutory compliance, risk management and governance.
4. Experience of managing budgets, contracts, suppliers and service performance.
5. Confidence using data, systems and insight to improve productivity, value for money and customer outcomes.
6. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
