This is a hands-on technical role bridging Electronic Patient Record projects and Business Intelligence functions. Reporting to the Data Solutions Architect, focused on development of BI functions within core EPR systems, architecture and the data flows to the Trust’s Warehousing solutions including data flow requirements and mandatory reporting from those systems.
Will be directly responsible for understanding, designing, creating, maintaining, monitoring and documenting data flows from our core Electronic Patient Record systems and associated modules.
Gathering requirements, designing data transfers and extracts for reporting, commissioning and NHS datasets such as SUS, HES, CSDS and ISN’s.
Experienced in Microsoft applications such as SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Excel and Power BI.
Supporting with system preparation, testing and implementation of the BI elements of Patient Administration System modules, ensuring that data quality and reporting standards are maintained.
Working on projects and BAU, to embed new functionality within the core BI/data analytics team.
Previous experience of NHS PAS/BI systems is essential, preferably System C Careflow, NHS Income, commissioning and performance is required.
Ability to design test plans, including UAT and reporting.
The role focuses on architecture, integration, and the design/management of data flows, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Flexible working may be required for support during testing phases and go live periods.
Main duties of the job
1. Design, develop, maintain and monitor data flows from core Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems and associated modules, ensuring accurate upstream and downstream integration.
2. Translate business and reporting requirements into robust data extracts and transfers to support reporting, commissioning, and national datasets including SUS, HES, CSDS and ISNs.
3. Support the Lead Data Solutions Architect in system preparation, testing, and implementation of BI components within new Patient Administration System (PAS) modules.
4. Design and execute test plans, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring data integrity, quality and reporting standards are maintained and enhanced.
5. Work collaboratively across project and operational teams to embed new BI functionality into core analytics and data teams.
6. Contribute to dataset development for internal use and wider cross-organisational initiatives.
