Advanced Pharmacist – Governance and Medicines Management
We are looking for a Pharmacist who wants to enhance their skills in medication safety. The role will be working alongside the current multidisciplinary Medication Safety Team.
You need to be motivated and have the drive to make a difference to medication safety; with a passion for working with other professional groups and asking those "so what" questions. Your role will involve investigation, auditing, negotiating and implementing change.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on investigations and the identification and implementation of learning from incidents, strengthening your skills with the use of InPhase and attendance at events like After Action Reviews.
* Support with managing, updating and developing clinical guidelines.
* Take a lead on overseeing and coordinating the Pharmacy Audit programme.
* Gain experience of responding to Patient Safety Alerts, including opportunities to take the lead on action planning.
You will have the opportunity to work with both Trust and Primary Care colleagues, attend multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the medicine management agenda and its development.
You will be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have successfully completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or be able to demonstrate equivalent and transferrable experience. Being a registered non‑medical prescriber is desirable.
Training and support will be given and a commitment to continuing professional development is essential.
The role will include participation in weekend working and may include on‑call commitment.
Applicants should have knowledge of therapeutics and medicine use and ideally experience of audit, investigations and risk management. Individuals will need to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff groups at all levels.
The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, have the ability to work as part of a team with a "can do" positive attitude.
