This jointer will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Borehamwood office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

You will attract a salary of £39,283 per annum - Depending on experience and a bonus of 3%.

If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check

Cable Jointer

We are the country's biggest electricity distributor! We make sure the lights stay on for more than eight million homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England.

As a jointer you will drive the fault response performance across the Borehamwood area. This will include speaking to customers, the central Network Operations team, and overseeing contractors.

You'll also work alongside engineers and others to ensure we can deliver 1st class service to our customers!

You'll also carry out all aspects of Jointing on both low and high voltages cables on the UK Power Networks distribution system.

Duties

10. Fault finding on the Distribution network
11. Connect new supplies
12. Alterations to existing supplies
13. The restoration of LV supplies in agreement with central control
14. Test and switch on the LV network – and understanding the results of the tests
15. Repair to public lighting services
16. Supervise excavating teams
17. Understand and provide updates for operational diagrams,
18. Low and high voltage jointing
19. Use appropriate IT equipment including TDR, LV Faults sniffer and electronic touch pad. Supervise Craft Attendant.
20. Inspection and Maintenance

As main member of our team, our jointers play a vital role in the safe restoration of and connection of supplies. UK Power Networks is regulated by multiple guidelines, and you will ensure successful compliance with Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruption targets. As a jointer, you may work at any location within the UK Power Networks area, at first though within the Borehamwood area.

Experience

As an experienced Jointer, you'll also need these key skills for this role:

21. City and Guilds 2339 (formally 2322) certificate or equivalent
22. NRSWA qualification as a supervisor and operative m(or equivalent
23. A flexible approach to out of hours work
24. Be able to work in a team
25. Ability to problem solve in a practical way
26. Working calmly under pressure
27. A Clean driving licences

30. Potential to undertake shift working

Health & Safety Responsibilities
