Director of Product Design and Management

Location: Remote (UK)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Reporting Line: Executive Leadership / CTO

Role Summary
The Director of Product Design and Management is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, executing, and scaling PathHub's product strategy across its clinical and laboratory platforms.
This position owns the full product lifecycle — from user-centred design and development planning through agile delivery, release governance, and post-launch optimisation. The role ensures strong alignment between product vision and technical execution, directly overseeing software development teams while fostering emerging technical leaders.

Combining strategic product ownership, design leadership, and hands-on delivery management, this role plays a pivotal part in driving roadmap execution, platform scalability, feature innovation, and team cohesion.

This is an executive-track position offering significant strategic impact, high autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to shape a fast-scaling healthtech product organisation.

About PathHub
PathHub is a fast-growing digital pathology and interoperability platform modernising diagnostic workflows across healthcare. We connect clinicians, laboratories, scanners, LIMS, and PACS systems to enable seamless case management, image access, and enterprise reporting across NHS and private healthcare networks.

As our customer base expands and platform complexity grows, we are strengthening our product leadership to ensure continued delivery of high-quality, user-centred, scalable solutions. This role will lead product maturity and team development during a critical scale-up phase.

PathHub operates UK-wide, with presence and partners in Windermere, Manchester, and Bolton, serving regional and national healthcare organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership
Define and maintain the product roadmap aligned with clinical, commercial, and business objectives
Translate user insights, market trends, and internal innovation into structured development pipelines
Own prioritisation, scope management, sprint planning, and release coordination
Ensure a cohesive product vision across frontend, backend, and integration domains
Collaborate closely with engineering, design, clinical, and commercial stakeholders

Team Leadership & Delivery Management
Directly manage software developers across frontend, backend, and integration workstreams
Build and cultivate a high-performing, delivery-focused engineering culture
Mentor and develop emerging team leads to support organisational scalability
Lead agile ceremonies and delivery governance (Jira workflows, sprint rituals, retrospectives)
Oversee release planning, QA governance, and post-release iteration cycles

Product Design & User Experience Leadership
Lead user-centred product design across clinical and laboratory interfaces
Collaborate with UI/UX designers and clinicians to validate usability and workflow alignment
Ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and modern design standards across the platform
Drive clear feature specification and documentation practices
Project & Stakeholder Management
Ensure timely and predictable delivery of product milestones
Manage epics, tickets, dependencies, and documentation standards within Jira
Act as the primary interface between product, clinical, commercial, and executive teams
Provide structured updates on roadmap progress, risks, KPIs, and outcomes

Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary
£75,000 – £90,000 per annum (gross), depending on experience

Equity
1% equity allocation
Awarded based on successful product delivery milestones
Subject to board approval, vesting schedules, and shareholder agreements
