About the Role
As a Technical Trading Standards Officer, you will deliver professional services that safeguard health, wellbeing, and consumer rights. This is a varied and challenging position where no two days are the same.
Your Responsibilities
* Investigating complaints and suspected offences using statutory powers
* Conducting inspections and sampling goods for compliance
* Leading intelligence‑driven enforcement activities, including test purchases
* Preparing legal cases and presenting evidence in court
* Advising businesses and consumers on compliance and rights
* Staying up to date with legislation and best practice
We're looking for someone with
* A Trading Standards or Consumer Affairs qualification (or willingness to achieve this in post)
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a regulatory or investigative role
* Strong knowledge of relevant laws and enforcement procedures
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage caseloads and draft accurate legal documents
* Competence in Microsoft Office and data systems
* A flexible, adaptable approach and commitment to high standards
* A driving licence is desirable.
