Norwich
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Consultant
Posted: 17 November
Offer description

Overview

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant appointment (7 PA’s per week) to cover a maternity leave. The successful applicant would join a team of 10 consultants.

Our department currently has internationally reputed services in axial spondyloarthritis and primary systemic vasculitis. We would also welcome interests in other disease areas as well as generalists.

Responsibilities

All future senior medical and dental appointments will be expected to work in collaboration across the Group and, irrespective of initial job description and job plan, be willing to work on more than one hospital site, dependent on service needs. Service location may change as our future models of care are developed by our clinically led networks through our acute clinical strategy. Some of the clinical procedures or services the appointee will be expected to deliver may be based at sites other than their primary site of employment.

This is a 7 PA post which includes 6 DCC and 1.0 SPA.

Outpatient clinics – 3.5 clinics per week (typically 3 New and 9 follow-up). MDT – With radiology every week. Acute Rheumatology cover 1:5 for 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am-11am on weekends, during which the appointee will also be expected to vet out‑patient referrals, address advice and guidance queries from GPs, cover the rheumatology day unit queries and support the on‑call rheumatology registrar.

Attendance is expected at quarterly regional meetings of the East Anglia Rheumatology Society (EARS) and the Eastern Network for Rare Autoimmune Diseases (ENRAD). The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.

All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.

The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be encouraged to serve on this committee.

The appointee will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, whereby all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.

Requirements

Full GMC with licence to practise required on application.

We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. Additionally, people with disabilities will be offered an interview providing they meet the minimum criteria for the post. The Trust operates job share and flexible working.
