Overview

Binnies is seeking Chartered Civil Engineers to join the Flood, Coast & Maritime team. This role offers opportunities to work on flood risk management, coastal adaptation, and water resources projects across the UK in locations including Chester, Swansea, Birmingham, Bristol, and Bradford-on-Avon. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and contribute to projects for clients such as Natural Resources Wales, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead the technical delivery of a range of flood risk management, coastal adaptation, and water resource projects.
* Manage multi-disciplinary teams to produce high-quality project deliverables that meet client specifications, budget, and schedule constraints.
* Engage in Flood Risk Assessment / Flood Consequence Assessments, Drainage Strategies, Flood Risk Management Schemes, and SUDS designs.
* Provide mentorship to junior engineers and graduates toward professional qualifications.
* Collaborate with Delivery Managers and Project Managers to ensure smooth project execution and commercial success.
* Support development of innovative solutions for river restoration, drainage, and sustainable infrastructure.
* Work on a variety of projects with contract values ranging from £50k to £500k.


Essential Requirements

* A background in Civil Engineering, Water & Environmental Management, or a related field.
* Professional engineering qualification with the ICE, CIWEM, or a similar body.
* Experience in the flood and coast sector, including the design and appraisal of schemes.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.


Desirable Requirements

* Experience in client and stakeholder engagement and presenting technical solutions effectively.
* Familiarity with NEC Professional Service Contracts (PSC) and the ability to manage project changes.
* Experience in developing business cases and preferred options using FCERM Appraisal Guidance.
* Focus on sustainable solutions, supporting natural resource management and the journey toward net zero.
* Experience with site construction to enhance design-buildability.
* Strong attention to detail in delivering project outcomes.
