Protocol Education are seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND school in the Peterlee area.
The school provides education for pupils with a wide range of complex additional needs, including:
• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Physical disabilities
• Communication and sensory needs
Many pupils require high levels of individualised support, including assistance with mobility, sensory learning activities and personal care. The school environment is designed to meet these needs through specialist equipment, sensory spaces and highly trained support staff.
As part of the classroom team, you will play an important role in supporting pupils to access learning and develop key life skills.
The role will involve:
• Supporting pupils with highly personalised learning programmes
• Assisting with mobility and specialist equipment where required
• Encouraging engagement through sensory learning and interactive activities
• Supporting pupils with communication using symbols, signs or assistive communication devices
• Providing personal care support where needed
The school is looking for individuals who are empathetic, patient and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs.
Applicants should ideally have a DBS registered on the Update Service. Candidates who do not currently hold one will be required to apply for a DBS through Protocol Education before starting work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
