Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

This is your chance to gain hands-on experience maintaining cutting-edge manufacturing equipment while studying towards a Level 3 Engineering Qualification. You’ll split your time between on-site learning (3 days/week) and college-based study (1-2 days/week)—putting theory into practice from day one.

Your training course
Science industry maintenance technician (level 3)
* Work safely in a science industry environment, understanding personal responsibility for Health, Safety, Environment and Security and principles of risk management.
* Participate in continuous performance improvement.
* Safely use all necessary equipment, following the appropriate engineering techniques, procedures and methods of relevance to complete the maintenance activity.
* Prepare the work area for maintenance of plant, systems or components.
* Carry out planned routine and non- routine maintenance activities, effectively, efficiently and safely.
* Reinstate the work area after completing the maintenance of plant, systems and components.
* Conduct safe and effective exchange of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the plant and equipment within the work area.
* Manufacture or assemble components within skill set.
* Develop and apply theoretical knowledge of engineering and its application to the required sector & job ro This should be acquired through a qualification set at level 3 (or above) that is approved by a licensed professional engineering institution.
Your training plan
The apprenticeship role is to successfully complete the Science Industry Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Standard Level 3, the training for which will be delivered by Cheshire College South & West. If you do not already hold GCSEs at grade A-C / 8-4in English and Maths, you will complete Functional Skills in the related subjects to attain Level 2 Functional Skills.

Must be able to commute to Stanlow Oil Refinery daily and to Cheshire College South & West. Driving Licence would be beneficial.

EET Fuels is a leading player in the decarbonisation of the UK economy through its delivery of an energy transition hub at Stanlow in the heart of the North West near Liverpool, Chester and Manchester.Stanlow is a strategic refinery producing vital fuels for UK transportation – around 16% of road fuels are produced here. The process of making refined products is carbon intensive, and, like most refineries, Stanlow is therefore a substantial emitter of CO2.
