Job Title – Used Car Manager
Reporting to: General Manager
Responsible for: Overall used car department performance (volume and profit) and Group operating standards.
Supported by: Used Car Director, General Manager, Group functions.
The individual will need to be self-motivated, accurate, and consistent, ensuring best practices are adopted at the site with continuous monitoring and improvement.
The individual should work to achieve the fundamental objectives of the business, which include providing an excellent return on investment to shareholders in a sustainable manner and within acceptable risk bounds.
Key responsibilities:
1. Responsible for sourcing and management of used car stock.
2. Effective pricing and valuation of used car stock.
3. Management of overage stock.
4. Understanding stock management principles related to stock turn and disposal strategy.
5. Managing department P&L, including monthly budget performance, margins, and volumes.
6. Maximize all profit centers.
7. Accurate reporting of margins and volumes.
8. Adherence to sales processes.
9. Staff training, coaching, and development, including appraisal training.
10. Managing used car display, including manufacturer used cars, standards, display, and security.
11. Lead management through EnqMax and The Hub, achieving minimum group response standards.
12. Daily updates of DOC and brand trackers.
13. Facilitating in-house purchases through service departments.
14. Ensuring timely turnaround of used car stock for display.
15. Timely resolution of customer complaints.
16. Adherence to group policies and legislation, including FCA and trading standards compliance.
17. Ensuring departmental compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal control matters.
