Senior Physiotherapist - Highly Specialist (XR07)
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Children's Neuro Orthopaedic team.
The post holder will work within the children's physiotherapy team and orthopaedic surgery team, providing specialist physiotherapy to children with neuro-disabilities.
They will demonstrate competence in managing children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). The post holder will develop the service by collating outcome measures for children presenting to the orthopaedic neuro-disability service, providing pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation programs for selected patients, and supporting/liaising with community physiotherapists.
Additionally, they will work collaboratively with inpatient physiotherapists, highly specialised nurses, and occupational therapists to ensure an optimal patient journey, especially in the peri-operative period.
They will provide leadership within the children's physiotherapy teams, demonstrating high standards of leadership skills and behaviours.
This post is for 4 days per week, including Tuesday and Wednesday.
The post holder will contribute to the paediatric out-of-hours service at Leeds Children's Hospital.

Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working with children in an integrated multidisciplinary team. This role supports the management of children with complex neurological conditions requiring surgical assessment of their hips & SEML surgery (Single Event Multi Level).
The role involves collating information from CPIPS and the gait laboratory, assisting in assessment and surgical decisions. The post holder will support inpatient and outpatient management around the time of surgery to ensure a smooth patient pathway and liaise with other hospitals for ongoing management. They will act as the link for families in this service. The neuro-orthopaedic service at Leeds Children's Hospital continues to grow, and this role involves ongoing service development.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, play therapists, dieticians, and psychologists. They are encouraged to liaise with other agencies supporting children and families.
The Children's Physiotherapy Team is committed to clinical governance, staff development through appraisal, training, research, and audit.

Job responsibilities
Job Purpose: To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for patients with complex physical and psychological conditions or chronic presentations.
The experienced physiotherapist will assist in coordinating team and outpatient activities, ensuring efficient service provision. They will provide training, supervision, and clinical expertise to staff and students.
As a lead clinician, they will act as a role model, promoting evidence-based practice, developing the physiotherapy team, and managing the team in the absence of the clinical service manager.
Job Dimensions: Managing individual caseloads, prioritising, and organising work. Working autonomously within this specialist field. Managing support staff and students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
* Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
* Extensive postgraduate experience in paediatrics at a senior level.
* Experience with clinical audit, standard setting, gait analysis, and working in multidisciplinary clinics.
* Knowledge of research, critical appraisal, and outcome measures.
* Effective communication, leadership, and teaching skills.
Person Specification: The candidate should possess comprehensive knowledge of paediatric neurological and orthopaedic physiotherapy, leadership skills, and the ability to work under pressure, in stressful environments, and with challenging behaviours.
Qualifications: Physiotherapy degree, HPC registration, CSP membership, and relevant postgraduate education.
Additional Requirements: Ability to participate in out-of-hours services, moving and handling patients and equipment, and fulfilling Occupational Health requirements.
