GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Sheffield (S13). Role Overview: As an SEMH TA, you will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and engagement in learning. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs. Help maintain a structured and nurturing learning environment that promotes safety, respect, and emotional wellbeing. Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored learning and behaviour plans. Encourage pupils to engage positively in learning, supporting both their academic and personal development. Promote resilience, confidence, and independence through consistent encouragement and understanding. Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs. A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach to classroom support. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of teaching staff. An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
