Job Title: Comms Manager – Internal Communications (Forensic Reform)
Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009. The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863, plus a location allowance of £2,009 and a non‑pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based in close proximity to St James Park underground station, London, and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other police locations across the UK. We encourage applications from candidates living across the UK. Further details on flexible arrangements will be discussed at interview stage.
Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2027 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

NPCC COMMUNICATIONS TEAM
The NPCC Communications Team plays a crucial role in communicating the collective views and action of UK police chiefs to the public, government and stakeholders, building and maintaining confidence in policing at the national level and supporting effective engagement with stakeholders.
THE ROLE
This role will focus specifically on holding the portfolio for internal and stakeholder communication relating to forensic reform (a key strand of police reform). This is a significant programme of organisational change and will require skills including internal and change communications, and solid stakeholder management awareness and experience. The post‑holder will be required to work extensively with colleagues in the NPCC, across wide policing and with the Home Office forensics team (the lead in this area).
The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:
* A relevant degree or professional communications qualification with at least two year’s relevant experience in a communications team working in or for a large or high‑profile organisation.
* Experience of developing and delivering high quality internal‑communication strategies and handling plans aligned to corporate objectives built on insight, employing creative content, and evaluated for continuous improvement.
* Expert knowledge of what great internal communication looks like and can achieve and how it links with policy and other communication disciplines. Knowledge of a broad range of current communication practices, tools and techniques including OASIS communication planning frameworks and insight and evaluation.
* Ability to provide internal‑communications advice and guidance at a senior level and use skills and experience to influence strategies and plans, including representing communications issues at high‑level meetings.
* Ability to evaluate, analyse and swiftly summarise information gathered from a range of sources to identify important issues, be able to make unbiased and accurate decisions on complex issues and communicate complex or contentious issues clearly and sensitively.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
