We are a leading supply agency working with a variety of mainstream primary schools across the Dorset area. We specialize in providing experienced and qualified teaching assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our mission is to help schools maintain high standards of education while offering tailored support to children with diverse learning needs. We are currently seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a positive impact in schools within the Bournemouth and wider Dorset area.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be placed in different mainstream primary schools within the Dorset area to support children with various special educational needs. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) to implement individualized support plans and assist students in accessing the curriculum, while ensuring they have the emotional and social support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with SEN within the classroom environment
* Help deliver tailored education programs and activities for students with specific learning needs
* Assist with implementing strategies for behavior management and supporting social-emotional development
* Adapt lessons and activities to ensure accessibility for all students
* Communicate regularly with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor student progress
* Assist with personal care and physical support where required
* Support students in participating in all aspects of school life, including extracurricular activities
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience working with children with SEN, preferably within a primary school setting
* Strong understanding of different types of SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, etc.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
* A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate
