DWP is seeking a Lead Analyst within the Contract Management and Partnership Delivery (CMPD) directorate.
The role primarily involves leading a large analytical division, Contracted Health and Employment Analysis (CHEA), which supports the Director and six Deputy Directors in CMPD. The responsibilities include decision-making, programme design, performance management, continuous improvement, and ensuring departmental payments are aligned with required services and outcomes.
The post provides critical analytical advice to stakeholders, including Ministers and HMT, supporting decisions on investments, contract design, procurement, grants, and extensions. The Lead Analyst will also collaborate with strategy and policy teams to evaluate provisions and strengthen the evidence base. The role oversees a geographically dispersed team of approximately 50 professionals across various analytical disciplines focused on data and management information.

Key responsibilities include:
* Setting a clear vision for analytical work in collaboration with the Director and Deputy Directors, promoting high-quality analysis to influence departmental and partner activities.
* Providing strong leadership to build capability, foster staff engagement, and develop a collaborative culture across the division.
* Collaborating internally and externally to develop relevant analysis that supports the delivery of employment programmes like Restart, which supports hundreds of thousands of individuals at an annual cost of approximately £400 million.
* Influencing stakeholders across DWP and HMT to facilitate sound funding decisions.
* Ensuring the availability of appropriate MI and analysis to support decision-making, funding, and performance management for the Functional Assessment Service (FAS) contracts, which conduct around 2 million assessments annually at a cost exceeding £600 million.
* Providing high-level analytical advice through formal submissions and presentations to senior officials, including Ministers, the Permanent Secretary, and external bodies like the National Audit Office.
* Participating as a senior member of the Civil Service and Analytical Leadership Team, contributing to diversity, inclusion, talent development, and capability growth initiatives.
