Job Overview
The role holder is accountable for the delivery of protective security within Southern Water. To direct and control the performance of protective security within a specific geographic area and ensuring some of our most critical assets are secure.
The role is the link between the overarching security legislation, regulators guidance and the business. This involves:
* A thorough understanding of the relevant legislation and guidance;
* Providing advice and guidance to the business in relation to complaint security measures;
* Assuring any security upgrades/project are compliant with the relevant Southern Water policies and standards;
* Investigating security incidents and compiling a factual report
* Liaising with specialist police and external agencies and security suppliers on a regular basis.
* Promoting security within the business to ensure Southern Water’s people, processes, premises and assets’ security is maintained.
Scope of role
To support the operational delivery of the Southern Water Protective Security Strategy. The Regional Security Advisor is accountable for supporting the delivery of security across Southern Water, its supply chain, and Tier 1 Contractors within a specified region. Travel across the whole estate may be required in times of business need.
About You
Technical
* Established experience in a similar security role
* Relevant physical security qualifications (ASIS PSP, CSMP, Security Institute BTEC/NVQ L4) or higher with relevant experience
* Experience/understanding of risk management processes (ISO 31000-2018)
* Specialist security training (NPSA accredited) obtained through a police, military or civil service background.
* Understanding of the legislation pertaining to water security
* Understanding of the regulatory guidance pertaining to water security
* Knowledge of the integration of varied security disciplines at an operational level
* Experience of conducting security risk assessments and security investigations.
* Experience/understanding of risk management processes.
* Experience of auditing and compliance of security standards and policies.
* Experience of stakeholder management relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of working collaboratively within a matrix organisation and providing security advice and guidance.
* Experience of operating at the operational level within an organisation and having corporate wide impact.
* Experience of collaboration with the police or other security agencies in delivering security or resilience.
* Experience of delivering security testing and exercising.
Capability
* Must hold or capable of holding National Security vetting to SC level
* O perational perspective and region wide delivery
* Acceptance of significant responsibility and accountability
* Detailed Analysis and Insight
* Delivery of coherent long-term policies, strategies, and plans
* Influencing inside or outside of the organisation
* Engaging and communicating highly effectively (orally and in writing)
* Collaboration and relationship management
* Proven ability in an operational security position preferred.
* Corporate stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving capabilities including the proven ability to engage on sensitive issues.
* Track record of delivering best security practice to large enterprises.
* The ability to brief, report and interact at with UK police forces, & Government agencies.
* Membership of a recognised security body (Security Institute/ASIS) with evidence of CPD activity.
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington office and home. There will be travel required in the Southern Water region and you will be on the on call rota (currently one week in 7).
