Overall Purpose of The Role:
Overseeing the Technical and Hygiene Departments, managing the team, and ensuring site food safety and quality. Responsible for relevant systems, policies, procedures, and equipment. Leading audits, handling complaints, and serving as the onsite Food Safety and Technical point of contact.
Job Tasks and Duties:
1. Ensure finished products and raw materials meet specifications and comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
2. Manage interactions with customers, agencies, and suppliers, including handling complaints, defect reports, and quality alerts.
3. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality standards.
4. Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
5. Plan, coordinate, and control activities and staff to achieve quality and safety goals.
6. Train, motivate, supervise, and coach team members to meet standards and reach potential.
7. Maintain food safety and quality systems.
8. Lead technical audits and manage the audit process.
9. Manage site budgets effectively.
10. Motivate and support team members to achieve departmental KPIs aligned with business goals.
11. Assist in recruitment, staff retention, and development to ensure adequate resources.
12. Prioritize and delegate workload efficiently.
13. Ensure equipment and systems are maintained and protected per legislation.
14. Identify and rectify issues affecting performance or safety promptly.
15. Promote industry best practices and new technologies.
16. Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, company policies, and health & safety regulations.
17. Adhere to GMP and housekeeping standards.
18. Produce reports on departmental standards and KPIs.
19. Complete all records and paperwork accurately and timely.
20. Ensure supplier compliance and adherence to customer audit protocols.
21. Complete customer specifications on time.
22. Develop and maintain internal audit and GMP audit systems.
23. Conduct risk assessments and process flow analyses.
24. Manage GAP analyses and remedial plans.
25. Lead scheduling and management of third-party audits.
26. Maintain Food Safety protocols, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP.
27. Communicate regularly with customers regarding quality and safety issues.
28. Oversee hygiene schedules and liaise with suppliers and hygiene teams.
29. Optimize costs related to chemicals, equipment, laboratory testing, and other departmental expenses.
30. Coordinate with senior management on relevant matters.
31. Engage in personal development through training and experience.
32. Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
