Job Overview
Secondment opportunity until September 2026, split post across acute stroke (Aintree) and ESD/LSRP (BGH). You will provide early intervention assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation to stroke survivors and lead a team of OTs, providing support, supervision, appraisal, training and service improvement.
Main Duties
* Provide expert assessment and rehabilitation of complex stroke patients including neurological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, transfer equipment & posture management, splinting, fatigue and anxiety management, and support with returning to drive/work.
* Train and support the Stroke MDT in managing complex patients.
* Develop and promote the Occupational Therapist role within Stroke, including service development projects and outcome reporting.
* Audit the service against local and national standards in close partnership with the management team.
* Train and support junior staff members across the stroke pathway.
* Senior oversight of a therapy team, including performance reporting, sickness management and supervision.
* Participate in the Stroke Network.
* Participate in national audit and research projects.
* Ensure adherence to governance processes including Datix and complaint investigations.
* Support staff with health, wellbeing and sickness management.
Qualifications
* BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Specialist post‑registration qualification.
* Evidence of CPD.
Experience
* Demonstrable postgraduate clinical experience.
* Active experience in audit.
* Supervision of staff and students.
* Teaching of junior staff.
* Experience working with other agencies.
* Experience in clinical speciality.
Skills
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Good time management.
* Ability to implement change.
* Leadership skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Leadership course attendance (e.g., LEO).
