Do you want to work in a progressive, forward thinking department? If you are committed to high standard patient care and enjoy working in a friendly, highly motivated team then the Leighton Theatre Department could be the right career destination for you. This post is for a Theatre nurse or ODP to perform the Anaesthetic practitioner role.

We have a vacancy for a qualified practitioner (band 5 nurse / ODP) to join our anaesthetics team.

Our department has 8 ultra‑modern theatres, including 2 Orthopaedic Barn theatres and 2 integrated 'Laparoscopic' theatres. We also have 4 day case theatres and a Surgical Admissions unit on site, plus a Maternity unit. We cover emergency surgery 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Informal visits are welcome. Please contact Paul Clayton or Susan Anderson on 01270 277972 or 01270 278129 to arrange a visit.

Main duties of the job

The Theatre Management team are passionate about providing support and cultivating a safe and friendly environment for staff and patients.

We work in teams by speciality/discipline including Breast/Gynaecology/Ophthalmology, General & Emergency Surgery, Urology and ENT, Orthopaedics /Trauma, Maternity, Anaesthetics, and PACU/Recovery.

Each team has senior staff who support their own team by providing duty rosters, annual leave allocation and training within the team. This allows staff members a more personal working experience and helps improve job satisfaction!

We would love to hear from you if you would like a new or continuing career in the Operating Theatre.

About us

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its 'Be Safe Be EquiPPEd' campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.

At Mid Cheshire, we value our staff and appreciate that in order to give our patients the best quality, compassionate care, we also need to look after our colleagues.
