This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic doctor at FY3 level to take on the role of a full-time Medical Education Fellow, working across Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and the Kent & Medway Medical School (KMMS).
The post offers a unique chance to gain invaluable experience in Medical Education within a large NHS Trust and a thriving Medical School. You will collaborate with dynamic teams to design, implement, and deliver innovative, integrated training programmes for NHS Medical Trainees and Undergraduate students.
The Trust supports 483 trainees across Foundation, Core, GPST, and Higher Specialty levels. Training programmes are meticulously monitored through Local Faculty Groups, the Local Academic Board (with significant input from Trainee Representatives), and the quality assurance processes of the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Deanery. Additionally, the programmes undergo rigorous oversight by the General Medical Council (GMC) through the National Trainee Survey (NTS), ensuring a high standard of education and development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to both Postgraduate and Undergraduate Education within the Trust, undertaking a variety of responsibilities as outlined in the job description.
Additionally, they will dedicate one day per week to working with the KMMS Faculty to support the implementation and development of the clinical and professional skills curriculum for Year 1 and 2 medical students.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A tailored work plan and set of objectives will be agreed upon with the Director of Medical Education for the year. This will include allocated time to pursue an online PG Cert in Clinical Education with Edinburgh University, fully funded as part of the role.
Additionally, the Education Fellow will receive a study leave budget to support ongoing professional development. You will be encouraged to engage in research within medical education, with opportunities to present your findings and innovative ideas at both local and national conferences and events. There will also be access to training in Human Factors, Debriefing, and Leadership throughout the year.
The Education Fellow will be assigned a named educational supervisor or mentor for dedicated support. The role will include formal educational oversight, with an educational agreement, a personal development plan, and regular appraisals to ensure continuous growth and success.

5. Current GMC Registration and License to Practice at the time of appointment
6. Undertaking UK Foundation Programme - completing F2 Year in 2025

8. Demonstrates excellent skills in spoken and written English to be able to teach medical topics efficiently
9. Experience of facilitating small group learning activities
