Control Systems Engineer – Industrial Automation Location: Trafford Park, Manchester (Hybrid) Salary: £50-55k depending on experience Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30 A specialist engineering firm is seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join its team developing bespoke industrial automation systems for global clients. These systems combine vacuum chambers, pneumatics, sensors, and robotics, controlled via PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms, and are used across automotive, HVAC, utilities, and manufacturing sectors. The Role You’ll be responsible for developing and commissioning control systems for high-spec machinery, integrating automation software, and collaborating with customer IT teams to ensure seamless data transfer and compliance. Key Responsibilities Develop and configure PLC/HMI programs (Rockwell/AB, Siemens, Mitsubishi) Integrate barcode/printer systems for product tracking and labelling Set up data logging and database integration Collaborate with customer IT teams for networked data transfer Support commissioning, testing, and on-site troubleshooting Provide internal IT/software support for control systems Assist sales with technical input for tenders and proposals Contribute to innovation and continuous improvementAbout You You’re a proactive engineer with a passion for automation and problem-solving. You bring: HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field 3 years’ experience in control systems or automation PLC/HMI/SCADA configuration experience (Rockwell/AB, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Wonderware) Software development skills for automation applications Hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experienceDesirable Skills Experience with robotics and material handling systems Familiarity with .NET framework, barcode/printer integration, and industrial networking Understanding of customer IT systems and data integrationWhy Apply?
