Offer description

St Chad’s School is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with special educational needs. This is a fixed-term role linked to the child’s time at our school. The successful candidate will join a caring and committed team and will contribute to the life of our Catholic school community, working in partnership with staff, parents, and governors to provide the very best for our pupils. The successful candidate will: • Be supportive of the Catholic ethos of our school. • Provide academic and social support for a child with SEND on a 1:1 basis, helping them to access learning and thrive in school life. • Have an understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how to adapt it to meet individual needs. • Have experience of supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in a 1:1 setting. • Be able to use their own initiative to respond to the child’s needs and changing circumstances. • Be committed to raising the attainment, confidence, and independence of the child they support. • Work in close partnership with the child’s parent(s)/carer(s), providing daily feedback on progress, successes, and areas for development. • Be creative and devoted to providing personalised, engaging learning experiences for the child. • Have strong interpersonal skills, working effectively as part of a team with colleagues, parents, governors, and external professionals. • Demonstrate a strong commitment to their own learning and professional development in relation to SEND and 1:1 support. In return, our school offers: • Children, who are well behaved, motivated to learn and who enjoy school. In our Section 48 inspection, Inspectors said ‘Pupils’ behaviour reflects how they embrace the school’s mission statement and try to behave in a Christ-like way. Behaviour throughout the school is of a very high standard. Pupils are extremely kind, polite and caring.’ • Professional and dedicated staff, supportive parents and Governors. A school that works hard to support a work life balance. Where staff have the option to take PPA at home; reduced marking and feedback; dedicated time for data input; spiritual development through whole school and staff retreats; continued professional development. • A strong, hardworking and dedicated staff team. In our OFSTED Inspection, Inspectors noted ‘St Chad’s Catholic Primary is a school where all pupils are welcomed with open arms. Relationships between staff and pupils are highly positive. Staff are kind. Pupils are well cared for and nurtured. Pupils feel safe and happy here.’ • Being part of the St Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy. A genuinely exciting partnership of schools, that thrive together as a group through training and shared expertise. • A willingness to embrace new ideas. We warmly welcome and encourage all applicants to visit our school and to speak to the Headteacher about the role. Appointments can be arranged by contacting the school office. St Chad’s Catholic Primary School is committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our colleagues and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair and consistent recruitment process which is in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online searches and two suitable references for all shortlisted candidates. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, Prohibition check (where applicable); Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work checks. We will also undertake a social media check for the successful candidate.
