Job Description
New Directions are seeking an organised, proactive, and highly professional Admin and cover assistant to join our busy secondary school team in Altrincham. The successful candidate will play a key role assisting the cover manager in the day-to-day operational management of staff cover arrangements, ensuring lessons are appropriately staffed and learning continues smoothly during staff absences.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or someone with school-based experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working as part of a supportive school community.
The role is starting ASAP on a full time basis until the end of the academic year. The hours are 7:30am until 4pm.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in organising and managing daily cover arrangements for teaching staff absences
2. Deploy cover supervisors and supply staff effectively across the school
3. Liaise with staff regarding absences, cover requirements, and timetable changes
4. Maintain accurate records of staff absence and cover allocation
5. Work closely with the cover manager to support staffing needs
6. Support examination invigilation coordination where required
7. Assist with wider school administration duties during quieter periods
The Ideal Candidate Will:
8. Have excellent organisational and time management skills
9. Have experience dealing/arranging cover in a school office
10. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
11. Be confident using school management systems and Microsoft Office
12. Have experience working in a school or educational environment
13. Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
