Role Purpose:
As a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying and addressing risks to children. You’ll deliver relationship-based, child-centred practice that focuses on achieving stability, safety, and positive outcomes.
What You Will Do:
Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk child protection cases.
Complete statutory assessments in line with the Children Act 1989 and create SMART care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
Lead child protection investigations, strategy meetings, and multi-agency reviews.
Initiate and progress public law care proceedings, preparing court documentation and assessments.
Work closely with families, schools, health professionals, and the police to develop joint plans that place the child’s needs at the centre.
Maintain thorough and up-to-date case records, adhering to national standards and local policies.
Participate in reflective supervision and contribute to service improvements through feedback and engagement.
Social Work degree (or equivalent) and Social Work England registration.
Experience working within statutory children’s social care, particularly in safeguarding or child protection.
Proficiency in risk assessment, court proceedings, and multi-agency working.
Excellent communication, report-writing, and analytical skills.
A commitment to evidence-based practice and child-centred decision making.
Prior experience in a Safeguarding or Assessment team.
Familiarity with Northamptonshire’s integrated services and restorative practice framework.
