An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioners in Child Health Dept at Borders General Hospital.
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, dynamic practitioner to assist in the provision of paediatric health care.
As an APNP you will work on the medical rota, bridging boundaries between the nursing and medical role providing high quality care to children, young people and their families.
We are looking for an individual who has/will develop high levels of decision making and clinical judgment, who is able to work independently and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
We need a person who has confidence in their ability to assess, examine, consider differential diagnosis, initiate treatment, investigations, providing the management of patients with a range of conditions to ensure safe and effective care. A person who recognises the importance of fully involving the patient and the family, keeping them central to all decisions, and delivers care accordingly.
The APNP role encompasses the four pillars of advanced practice, that of expert clinician, leader, educator and researcher, you must be able to evidence these.
You will work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to be innovative, to improve practice and develop the service, implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards and guidelines and policies. You will provide leadership to nursing staff and junior doctors regarding training and development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
To meet the needs of the service, hours will include a range of shift patterns including nights and weekends.
To undertake this role, you should have significant post registration experience, a good understanding of the APNP role and be able to articulate your reasons for interest in this role. You should have excellent communication skills, work autonomously utilising your own initiative, clinical judgement and decision making.
