PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £49,000 - £55,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As the Assistant Area Estates Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional workplace environments that inspire creativity, collaboration, and innovation across the BBC's diverse estate.
Detail-oriented and dependable delivering high standards and ensuring that nothing slips through the cracks, especially when it comes to safety, compliance, and service quality.
Working client-side, you'll be at the heart of our Workplace team, supporting the operational management of our buildings and spaces to ensure they reflect the BBC's values and meet the evolving needs of our people. You'll support our team maintain and enhance spaces that are as dynamic and diverse as the content we produce.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, service providers, and contractors to ensure our estate is safe, sustainable, and fit for purpose
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Build collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders as necessary on-site estate matters, ensuring suppliers adhere to BBC policies and procedures.
* Ensure the service provider delivers the contracted estate services, ensuring there is an effective liaison between all parties.
* Support the efficient day-to-day operation of the BBC's estate to a high and professional standard and champion best practice.
* As part of a wider estate management team, contribute to the future planning of improvements for the facility, reviewing requests and proposals from end users.
* Assist in the management of operating costs and budgets, including all Workplace costs and approval of expenditure of allocated budget.
Your Skills And Experience
* Ability to prioritise tasks and deal with business-critical issues as well as conflicting demands.
* Strong track record of delivery, attention to detail and ensuring high standards from third party suppliers.
* Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop, maintain and enhance collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
* A natural collaborator – You enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders and can build strong, respectful relationships with internal teams, contractors, and service providers.
* A confident communicator – You're comfortable engaging with people at all levels, from technical teams to senior managers, and can clearly articulate issues, solutions, and progress.
* Solutions-focused and adaptable – You're not fazed by changing priorities or unexpected challenges. You stay calm under pressure and find practical ways to keep things moving.

* Proven facilities and/ or project contract management experience in multi-site estates.
Essential Criteria
* Highly organised, with a positive and creative approach to challenges, dealing effectively with change.
* Effective communicator, capable of writing reports and of managing and manipulating data
* Ability to develop, maintain and enhance collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
* Ability to work with limited supervision, using own initiative and escalating when necessary.
Desired But Not Required
* Proven facilities and/ or contract management experience
* IOSH/NEBOSH or FM qualification
