Overview

Our Manchester office is seeking a Sustainability and Carbon Team Leader who is a highly capable Sustainability and Carbon specialist with extensive experience in embedding sustainability into large scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies. The role involves team/line management and the ability to hit the ground running.

Our Sustainability and Carbon team advises clients on how they can decarbonise their activities while improving performance across other areas of sustainability. Work includes decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, whole life carbon assessments, sustainability assessments, TCFD and carbon accounting, among others, leveraging the latest digital tools. The team works across sectors including large-scale energy projects, water, rail, highways, airports and local and central government.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other teams across the business at strategic levels and throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-established candidate to further develop their career in this rapidly growing space. The candidate will create positive sustainable change for high-profile clients throughout the UK where capability, eagerness to learn and supporting the development of others will be recognised and rewarded.


Your purpose

* Leading on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
* Leading the development of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions and management plans.
* Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
* Represent the company at external networks when required and continue to build personal, team and company reputation.
* Lead and support bid proposals, helping to author submissions and ensuring win themes are retained.
* Lead the Manchester/Northern team of sustainability and carbon specialists, providing line management duties and supporting team development.


What you can bring

* Degree-level education in an environmental or engineering-related discipline and chartered with a recognised professional body.
* Relevant experience and up-to-date knowledge in carbon accounting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy and supply chain engagement.
* Strong report writing, communication and presentation skills tailored to a range of audiences and competencies.
* Understanding of UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used in infrastructure and corporate reporting across public and private sectors.
* Eagerness to lead, support and develop direct reports within a team.

Security clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If necessary, it will be discussed at interview.
