The Role
To manufacture, repair, and maintain precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and components used in production and maintenance operations. The role involves working with manual and CNC machinery to ensure high-quality and accurate fabrication and fitting of mechanical parts.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce precision components.
Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other workshop equipment.
Assemble, fit, and test mechanical components and tooling.
Perform maintenance and repair of tools and fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and production teams to improve tooling and processes.
Conduct inspections and quality checks using measuring instruments (micrometres, callipers, gauges).
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
Document work performed and maintain accurate records of tooling and maintenance activities.
The Candidate
You will have the following skills, experiences and attributes…
Proven experience as a Tool Maker or Fitter Turner in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
Strong knowledge of machining processes and mechanical fitting.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files.
Skilled in the use of manual and CNC machines.
Familiarity with precision measuring tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking (preferred).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
