We are looking to appoint a specialist doctor to join our dynamic and progressive Acute Medicine department. The post is part of a first‑class 12‑month comprehensive programme and offers close collaboration with existing acute physicians.
Responsibilities include maintaining high‑quality patient‑centred care, contributing to daily service management, teaching and training, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical governance, and continuing medical education.
Main duties of the job
* Maintenance of high‑quality patient‑centred care
* Shared responsibility for day‑to‑day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
* Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
* Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
* Active participation in continuing medical education
Qualifications / Training
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview, or GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
* College Membership (MRCP) or equivalent qualification
* Evidence of being up to date and fit to practice safely, and aware of own training needs
* College Fellowship
Previous Experience
* Broad experience in Acute Medicine, including ambulatory care and inpatient management, with emphasis on multidisciplinary team working
* Experience supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
* Demonstrable experience in a Locum Consultant role
Skills
* Evidence of engagement with clinical governance and learning from error
* Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation
