What’s involved?
Purpose of the role
This People & Culture Advisor role sits within a small, collaborative team and is the first point of contact for employees and managers, providing practical advice across the employee lifecycle. The role has particular responsibility for payroll administration, HR systems and day-to-day People operations.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys both payroll and HR administration, with strong attention to detail and a proactive, organised approach in an SME environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer the monthly payroll process, preparing and submitting payroll data to the outsourced provider and acting as the main point of contact for payroll queries.
* Work closely with Finance to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance and effective administration of pay reviews and benefits.
* Manage end-to-end HR administration including onboarding, contracts, reference and DBS checks, changes to employment details, and leavers.
* Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems (IRIS HR experience desirable), ensuring data integrity and GDPR compliance.
* Provide first line HR support to managers and employees on policies, procedures and day-to-day queries.
* Support employee relations administration including absence management and family leave processes.
* Produce HR reports and management information to support business decision-making.
* Assist with compliance activities, policy updates and initiatives that support employee engagement and wellbeing.
What will make you successful?
Proven experience at HR / People Advisor level.
Strong experience administering the end‑to‑end employee lifecycle.
Hands‑on experience with payroll administration, ideally alongside an outsourced provider.
Experience using an HR system; IRIS HR experience preferred.
Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation.
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
Confident working autonomously in a small‑business / SME environment.
