Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
A leading national alternative education provider is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team at their Birkenhead-based provision. This is a full-time position with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.
The school offers a bespoke, high-quality education to learners aged 11–16 (Key Stage 3 and 4), with a strong focus on supporting students who may face barriers to learning in mainstream settings. Their mission is to inspire positive progression—whether that be reintegration into mainstream education, or successful transitions into further education, training, or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support to a designated student, adapting strategies to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
* Promote a calm, consistent, and nurturing learning environment.
* Assist in delivering engaging lessons that support academic and personal progress.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies.
* Support students in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children or young people who display challenging behaviour.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* A genuine passion for working in alternative education settings.
* Resilience, patience, and a calm, proactive approach.
* Ability to build positive relationships and foster trust with learners who may have experienced trauma or exclusion.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
