Tesco Shift Leader - Days - Rogerstone Newprt Express
Join us as a Shift Leader, helping customers and supporting your team in a fast‑paced retail environment. The starting pay is £14.76 an hour, rising to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week (12 hours is the minimum if you prefer fewer hours). The required shift windows are:
- Monday: 06:30 – 15:30
- Wednesday: 06:30 – 15:30
- Saturday: 14:00 – 23:00

Responsibilities
- Run duty shifts, ensuring the store is clean, well‑stocked and exceeds customer expectations.
- Assist customers and make sure they leave with what they came for.
- Coach and give feedback to colleagues to improve service quality.
- Maintain a safe workplace for staff and shoppers.
- Track store performance and help managers with improvement actions.
- Lead by example and set a positive tone for the team.
- Open and close the store, and handle day‑to‑day queries when the manager is absent.
- Coordinate seasonal, community and charity events.
- Promote a welcoming team atmosphere and celebrate staff achievements.
- Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.

- Act as a great role model, delivering thoughtful customer service.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues to create an inclusive team atmosphere.
- Communicate clearly, keeping the team well informed.
- Comfortably lead and oversee the store in the absence of the manager.
- Make good decisions, stay flexible, and handle change effectively.
- Motivate the team to deliver beyond expectations.
- Stay curious and always look for ways to improve and simplify operations.
