About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour & Attitudes to join our Senior Leadership Team and help shape a positive, nurturing and aspirational school culture. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across behaviour, pastoral care, wellbeing and pupil engagement, ensuring every young person receives the support they need to access learning and achieve success.
As Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour & Attitudes, you will lead whole-school strategies that promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and exceptional pastoral care. Working closely with therapeutic and clinical teams, families and external agencies, you’ll create a trauma-informed and relational culture that supports pupils to feel regulated, engaged and ready to learn.
You’ll play a central role in shaping school culture, supporting staff development and driving improvement across behaviour, attitudes and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading whole-school behaviour, attitudes and pastoral strategies
2. Embedding trauma-informed and relational approaches across the school
3. Using data and evidence to drive improvement in behaviour, attendance and wellbeing
4. Leading and maintaining robust safeguarding and pastoral systems
5. Coaching, supporting and developing staff to promote consistent practice
6. Building strong relationships with pupils, families and external agencies
7. Leading reintegration, intervention and personalised support pathways
8. Contributing to whole-school improvement as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
9. Degree qualified inEducation, Psychology, or a related field
10. An inspirational and confident leader with experience in behaviour, pastoral or SEND leadership
11. Passionate about creating inclusive environments where every child can succeed
12. Skilled in trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation and behaviour support
13. An exceptional communicator who builds positive relationships easily
14. Calm, resilient and solution-focused under pressure
15. Experienced in leading teams and driving positive change
16. Deeply committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
17. Motivated to inspire staff and improve outcomes for young people
18. A holder of a full UK Driving Licence
