Teaching Dance and PE is a key role within the Academy, ensuring that the Academy’s vision of excellence and success is achieved within the Performing Arts and PE departments. Through having the highest expectations, they will be able to continue to drive up standards of achievement, attainment and enjoyment for the subject so that all pupils can make exceptional progress. Within the academy Dance is taught to GCSE level, and is well regarded amongst pupils and staff.
The successful applicant will be committed to leading learning within the department which has high quality teaching and learning at its heart. They will be passionate about teaching Dance and PE and have a strong desire to develop, within pupils, a real interest in the subject, by offering them a range of high quality experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. They will also be committed to ensuring that all pupils are given the best opportunities to succeed and use strategies that will ignite within each learner a strong desire to achieve their very best.
The successful candidate will be able to enthuse, motivate and inspire children, generating within them a love for learning. Good teamwork, high standards and a capacity for hard work will have been at the core of his/her success. They will be a creative thinker with an ability and determination to develop the Academy as a centre of excellence within their subject area.
The Dance department consist of a dedicated dance studio and theatre style performance area, and there are also dedicated classrooms to support the theory elements of both subjects. The PE department has a wide range of specialisms in football, netball, rounders, and OAA and we are looking for the right candidate to further strengthen and broaden our curriculum offer in activities such as volleyball, tennis and athletics. At KS4 we offer the BTEC Technical award in Sport, fitness and health in addition to the AQA GCSE PE specification.
Competitions, fixtures and extra-curricular clubs are highly regarded and our staff are committed to offering a wide range of activities throughout the year. We form part of the Manchester Schools PE Association which provides an inclusive competitions calendar. We are also linked to the Manchester United Foundation which provides opportunities inside and outside the classroom for high quality coaching, mentoring and wellbeing initiatives.
We are regularly successful in a number of competitions, previously winning competitions in the following sports; Netball, Quad kids athletics, football, cross country, cycling and Inclusion tri golf.

* Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils.
* Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to realise their full potential and secure good progress and attainment.
* Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils as a form tutor.
* Commit to demonstrating a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
