The HPU Design Engineer will primarily provide engineering support for Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs) and associated equipment. The focus will be on HPU product design for both internal applications and external bespoke designs to meet customer specifications. Responsibilities include creating 3D and 2D CAD/SolidWorks assembly drawings, machining drawings, bills of materials, reviewing sub-contractor drawings, developing new and bespoke products, performing engineering calculations, and preparing related documentation. Additional duties may be assigned to meet company needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Produce drawings using SolidWorks / CAD software.
* Create assembly drawings including detailed Bills of Materials.
* Develop machining drawings for subcontracted activities.
* Design schematic drawings for HPUs and control systems.
* Generate other drawings as required by the business.
* Assist in designing new and bespoke equipment.
* Provide engineering expertise in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, control, and automation systems.
* Support operations with dimensional activities as needed.
* Control and issue completed drawings.
* Review and verify drawings from subcontractors and clients.
* Create machining and fabrication drawings.
* Design schematic diagrams for HPUs, actuation, control systems, and related equipment.
* Develop P&ID diagrams.
* Perform detailed engineering calculations using MathCAD to verify components and equipment.
* Assist the QA department with engineering support.
* Verify dimensions of machined components received from subcontractors.
* Support QA activities as required.
* Provide technical support to Sales and Project Management teams.
* Conduct site visits to suppliers, subcontractors, and HSP locations.
* Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.

The ideal HPU Design Engineer should have:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in designing Hydraulic Power Units and related equipment.
* Strong knowledge of hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and system design.
* Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and controls.
* Preferably, experience with SolidWorks software.
* Proficiency in 3D and 2D design packages for modeling and drawing.
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365.
