We are currently working with a well-established organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to appoint an Interim Assistant Management Accountant to support their finance team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for the role to extend.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced finance professional to join a busy finance function and gain strong exposure to management accounting, reporting, and financial analysis within a supportive team environment.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week based in the Birmingham office and the remainder working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting journals, calculating accruals, and preparing prepayments.
2. Performing regular balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any outstanding reconciling items.
3. Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data, analysis, and variance commentary.
4. Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
5. Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the team during audit processes.
6. Contributing to process improvements and strengthening financial controls within the finance function.
7. Providing ad hoc financial support and analysis to the wider finance team as required.
Candidate Profile
8. Previous experience in a finance or assistant management accounting role.
9. Strong understanding of management accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
10. Good analytical and Excel skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
11. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
12. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
13. Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT) or currently studying towards a professional qualification.
14. Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting processes.
