JAB Recruitment is currently looking to source an Environmental Technical Lead on behalf of our client who is building a newly established environmental team in the energy sector. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Aberdeen.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Environmental Team and be a pivotal part of its growth and development.
We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Technical Lead who is ready to take the next step in their career. The role is varied and will include client development, bidding, technical delivery, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering environmental support in the UK Oil & Gas sector, with a strong desire to act as a technical leader.
The role reports directly to the Market Director – Environment, with leadership, business development, and delivery support provided as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as overall technical lead for all environmental support to UK Oil & Gas projects
* Deliver technical excellence and ensure the quality of environmental support across all projects
* Develop business opportunities and build a trusted portfolio of Oil & Gas clients
* Deliver environmental and sustainability consultancy scopes
* Provide strategic environmental advice to clients
* Author, review, and approve technical reports
* Lead and mentor junior specialists
* Prepare cost estimates and bids
* Manage projects to ensure delivery within scope, budget, and schedule
* Engage directly with clients and maintain strong professional relationships
* Support recruitment of team members in line with market growth
Note: Additional ad-hoc tasks may be required based on operational needs and employee capability.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Degree in a relevant environmental discipline
* Extensive experience delivering environmental and sustainability consultancy services
* Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. CEnv)
* Experience in the UK Energy industry, ideally in Oil & Gas
* Knowledge of UK legislation and industry standards
* Strong technical report writing and review skills
* Existing network of clients and contacts in the industry
* Proven track record in leading scopes to time and cost targets
* Business development and bid preparation experience
Communication Skills:
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Comfortable engaging with senior management and presenting at conferences (support provided)
* Strong bid writing and client engagement skills
* Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively

* Empathetic leadership and resilience in a consultancy setting
