Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Production Manager to lead our production operations and ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing environment. This role is critical in maintaining productivity, minimising downtime and scrap, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Location: Mansfield (NG18). Employment type: Permanent. Salary: £50,000 p.a.

Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily production operations to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient manufacturing process, working closely with the Engineering Manager and Shift Managers to maximise machine performance, productivity, and profitability.
* Plan and manage production schedules, including assigning duties to manufacturing personnel, preparing shift schedules, and authorising overtime where required to meet production targets.
* Monitor, analyse, and report on production performance, preparing daily production figures for meetings, compiling month‑end management and financial reports, and maintaining accurate records of downtime for analysis.
* Identify and resolve production and process issues, reporting concerns to the Operations Manager, leading continuous improvement projects, and implementing process and efficiency improvements across the production floor.
* Lead, develop, and manage the Production team, including recruitment in partnership with HR, conducting regular supervisor meetings, managing disciplinary processes, maintaining balanced skill levels across shifts, and identifying and delivering training requirements.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and operational standards, including adherence to all procedures, completion of daily checks, implementation and review of production procedures, and clear communication of expectations to all employees.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working environment, ensuring correct storage of tools and equipment, minimising material scrap through training and process improvements, and embedding 5S methodology throughout the production area.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a production or manufacturing management role.
* Plastics or FMCG background with a proven track record of running Process Improvement projects.
* Minimum 2‑3 years managing a multi‑disciplinary team with a minimum of 4+ direct reports and 20+ indirect reports.
* Ability to analyse data and drive continuous improvement.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality standards in a production environment.
