At Southern Housing, we're looking for a commercially savvy, analytically minded Financial Analyst in the Investment Appraisals team to play a pivotal role in guiding high-level investment decisions. This is your chance to influence how we allocate capital and appraise residential property opportunities that transform communities. Reporting to the Head of Investment Appraisal, part of Corporate Finance Directorate, you'll be at the heart of strategic decision-making-supporting development, regeneration, and asset management initiatives that deliver quality homes and thriving neighbourhoods. Based in our vibrant Farringdon office, with flexible hybrid working options, you'll collaborate with key internal stakeholders across Development Delivery, Commercial, Sales & Marketing, and more delivering insightful analysis that drives value and supports our mission to create quality homes and thriving communities. What you'll be doing You'll take ownership of reviewing detailed financial appraisals for new and existing property developments using the Optimix appraisal model, delivering clear, insightful analysis and scenario modelling to support confident decision-making. Alongside this, you'll challenge and refine appraisals for property sales opportunities using the Asprey model, ensuring every proposal stands up to commercial scrutiny. As you grow in the role, you'll become a trusted expert on our appraisal models keeping assumptions accurate, hurdles up-to-date, and ensuring the correct versions are consistently applied across the business. What you'll need Experienced in investment appraisal and/or viability assessment, within property‑related application Advanced skills in using Excel for data management and complex financial modelling Ability to demonstrate analytical approach to problem solving and strong numerical reasoning skills Detail‑driven mindset with a focus on data integrity and financial accuracy Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to non-financial stakeholders Self-motivated with appetite to take on a diverse set of complex challenges; adept at managing priorities dynamically to suit fast-moving business needs Appetite for learning and continuous professional development; diplomatic giver and confident receiver of constructive feedback Educated to degree level and/or studying towards a professional qualification (such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CF, ACT) Prior accounting experience (advantageous, but not necessary) In your supporting statement, it is important that you address how you meet the above criteria providing real examples.
