Company Description
An experienced viticulturist is sought by a newly developed 40 acre, 67000 vine, vineyard near Henley-on-Thames. The successful applicant will work alongside the Vineyard Manager to ensure that the vines are grown to exacting standards in order to produce a high yield in the production of a fine sparkling wine. It is expected that the first harvest will be within the next 2 years and therefore this is a key role in the success of the business.
The successful candidate would be involved in all aspects of vineyard work. This work includes pruning, tying-in, de budding, bud selection, green pruning canopy management, trellis repairs, sampling tissue for analysis, harvest work, machinery and building maintenance.
Ideally the successful candidate will have a suitable qualification in viticulture and/or 2 to 3 years of vineyard experience. The position would suit someone who is highly organised, possesses an enthusiasm to learn and is able to work both with the Vineyard manager and on their own. You will also have good written and spoken English and be a motivated and punctual, self-starter. There is strong potential for the role to grow as the successful candidate helps to develop the vineyards.
Salary: £18-20,000 (depending on experience) +generous harvest bonuses (subject to performance) in due course.
